The largest kite festival in North America taking place on the Beach at Rio Grande Avenue in Wildwood and inside the Wildwoods Convention Center featuring kite makers from around the world flying their most incredible colorful creations. Event begins on Friday at 12 noon with the 'Unlocking of the Ocean' media event on the beach at Roberts Avenue featuring a special Wildwoods Icon Wall Mural Unveiling. Festivities continue with the opening of the Festival Field Tent and the 9 p.m. illuminated kite fly at Rio Grande Avenue and the beach. The Wildwood Beer Fest is a beer tasting event to celebrate the art of locally brewed craft beer. Located in Fox Park, on Ocean Avenue between E. Burk and E. Montgomery Avenues – this festival will be equally exciting for the brew aficionado and novice alike. A ticket into this event grants you access to 100+ brews, a commemorative tasting cup, live tunes, delicious food and craft vendors. Spectators and racers alike will experience a simpler time of when guys were gentlemen and cars were king! Over 100 vintage auto (pre-1934) and motorcycles (pre-1947) ~ including Indian, Harley Davidson, Excelcior, Ford, Dodge Brothers and more ~ will compete in an exhibition style beach race at the water's edge between Schellenger and Spicer Avenues in Wildwood. Friday will feature “The Night of the Troglodytes,” a rollicking chopper party set around the area where the weekend’s race vehicles are on display for the delight of the crowd. Saturday gates open at 8 a.m. and will feature vintage auto and motorcycle races from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. with live rock 'n roll all day. Beach entry is at 8:30 a.m. for spectators. A bonfire and beach party will take place on Saturday night from 8 p.m. until midnight, with live rock 'n roll. More beach racing will take place on Sunday with gates opening at 8 a.m., races from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. followed by an award ceremony, beach party and more rock 'n roll music. Beach entry is at 8:30 a.m. for spectators. Wildwood Beach Patrol proudly hosts the Annual Beach day with 21 Down.The central meeting area will be at Lincoln Avenue and the beach at 10 a.m., in front of Wildwood Beach Patrol Headquarters, at the 20-foot guard tower dubbed “Tower X.” 21 Down is a non-profit, Down Syndrome awareness group serving families, educators and healthcare professionals of Atlantic and Cape May Counties. Their mission is to create awareness and acceptance of people with developmental disabilities while providing information, support and community events for their families. The Beach Day incorporates safe, guarded ocean play time for the children and families of 21 Down, as well as opportunities for interaction and educational opportunities with seasoned inlet lifeguards as they discuss beach safety with attendees. Short breaks for lifeguard style relay races, lunch, cold beverages and ice cream are also provided as beach safety is reinforced. The Wildwood Beach Patrol, with the support of local community businesses, strives to create great Wildwood memories for these children and their families with the Beach Day event.
